Our Pastor

Pastor George E. Jackson was born and raised in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist Church as the result of an evangelistic tent meeting in 1960. His spiritual roots are in his then neighborhood Methodist Church, where he attended Sunday school; in the Baptist Church where he attended morning services with his mother; and Sunday evenings in his grandmother’s in the Pentecostal church.

His education was through the public school system, where he developed carpentry skills, public speaking, artistic gifts, and drama talents. His call to ministry came during his senior year in High school as an unshakable assignment from God. Oakwood University was the focus for sharpening his calling to ministry and where he met his wife the former Karen Braxton of Camden, New Jersey, they married in 1972. He also attended Andrews University Theological Seminary, Berrien Springs, Michigan.

The Jacksons began marriage and ministry in Cleveland, Ohio; he as an associate pastor and she as church school teacher. The call to ministry has afforded the Jacksons to pastor and serve in several conferences and this is their second privilege to serve in the Allegheny East Conference.

Sis. Karen is a certified cosmetologist, a drug and alcohol rehab counselor; a domestic violence specialist; church school teacher and administrator; and currently is the CEO/principal and teacher of The Better Way Christian Academy in Philadelphia, PA. She a graduate of Oakwood College; holds her Master’s Degree in Christian Counseling; and is pursuing a doctoral degree in the same area.

The Jacksons are the parents of one son, Brandon, who holds a Master’s degree in animation from the San Francisco Academy of Arts University, San Francisco, CA. Bandon and his wife TaiJuana have blessed the Jacksons with a granddaughter Mekayla, and grandson Brandon II.

Ministry remains a passion for Pastor Jackson, preaching; teaching; fund raising; physical plant renovations; Bible School, public tent effort, seminar evangelism, TV, radio, and cable radio evangelism. For the past five years he has been active on the staff with the Allegheny East fitness camp “Fit-4-U,” assisting the campers in stress relief and personal physical maintenance.
